Education

CREDOC’s board of Management are passionate to ensure sustainable basic education among children of 6 to 15 years, for 100% enrolment, 100% retention and 100% passing with 100% joining degree courses.

  • Life Skill education to Girl Children: Age-appropriate life skill education such as, self-awareness, time management, concept of savings, career planning, setting goals, importance of nutrition, healthy habits, personal health care, hygiene, low cost nutrition preparation, leadership on social issues and other seasonal issues.
  • Mentoring: Regular mentoring sessions have been arranged by the teachers on, ‘difficult-to-understand’, sub topics, with the services of  external resource persons. This has helped to improve academic performance among the girls.
  • Life Skill Centers: CREDOC had established LIFE SKILL CENTRES in three schools in which life skill sessions have been conducted, Child club meetings, Parent Meetings, Village level Child Protection Committee and School Management Committee meetings are held. 
  • Child Club Meetings:  Children’s Clubs are micro level association of  socially homogeneous children who come togather to discuss matters related to education, health, environment, cultural activities, and social issues such as Child Marriage, Child Protection, and other concerns pertaining to children. 
  • Teacher-parent-student  meetings:  The interface between children, parents, and teachers helped to facilitate and promote girls’ education. Stop child marriages, and corporal punishment, improve functioning of School management committees and resolving issues and concerns related to children education. 
  • Material Support: Children are provided with quality textbooks, writing notebooks, and learning materials for overall enhancement of girls’  comprehension of education and utilise in the long run. 
  • School Management Committees and Child Protection Committees: The committees are suitably activated and they discuss the importance of girl’s education, their protection and related concerns. The support enabled young children, esp girls to attend schools without fear and gain a sense of security. 
  • Home Visits: The Social Mobilisers regularly make home visits to follow up on girl children education, encouraging them to study well, attend life skill sessions, achieve academic performance and related security in life.

The girl’s education programme has created huge impact in the personality development. This is one step towards empowering girls for  a better quality of life and better communities. 
The Education program that was started with one centre and few students are now spread into 10 mandals catering to 750 students.

Health and nutrition

After assessing the local issues,  a series of health and nutrition initiatives were taken up to address,  malnourishment,  attitude of going in for costly medicines to ensure confirmed relief and packaged foods to bring better health.  

CREDOC team organises  series of meetings with, mothers,  adolescent girls in all the adopted and target villages.  Gaps get identified and Strategies were evolved.  A series of awareness programs were conducted.  Demonstrated no cost/low cost nutritious meal preparations;  Medical referral activities, immunization coverage and referral support were carried out.

Livelihood

Issues and challenges faced by farmers in general, agricultural workers in particular were surveyed and the migrant population, were assessed and a problem specific packages were evolved.  

Value-addition to agricultural  produce, low cost input, alternates to agriculture farming, selling produce to high-end markets,  organic cultivation,   have been facilitated by CREDOC;   

Solutions to,  unskilled employment in agriculture, seasonal crop failure issues, were facilitated using experts and retired persons;   migration based wage employment and ill-treatment and deprivation faced by the migrant workers in various urban areas, were also facilitated.  

CREDOC launched a series of intervention to improve alternate skilling and revival of agriculture and  to prevent migration; Programs were conducted for farmers to adopt advanced agriculture and to improve the yield with the least investment and least labour from  the government and their  rights were highlighted to secure their entitlements.  

Over  100 farmers got benefited from this program from Mehboob Nagar district.

Gender balance / Women empowerment

Sensitization on women’s health care, adolescents personal health and Hygiene were facilitated using the services of the local health experts.  

Sessions on women’s rights and health were promoted against exploitation and sharing household chores.

Ecology and nature

Tree planting, gap filling of avenue trees, and reviving slow growing trees, were supported with local experts and professional input.  

Awareness classes on environment and bio diversity conservation were provided to school children.

Differently abled / Rights and responsibilities

Rights of the exploited workers, Government schemes made available to various groups and enabling people to avail various support extended to them and hand holding people to avail the benefits,  are some of the sensitization activities taken up. 

Children parliament were conducted to elicit the views of children on various challenges faced by them, for a safe and secured child-friendly atmosphere, in families, in schools, while on travel, etc.,  

Activities for children included outdoor games, ‘learning by seeing’ in natural   atmosphere, mentoring towards their aim and target, are some of the tasks undertaken for the advancement of children, their  future and their career.
